PSG, established ten years ago, now provides around 25% of all residential property searches in England and Wales. Property Searches – a key requirement for every conveyance of a property – are carried out by PSG’s own search operation based in Huddersfield and by its 83 Franchise outlets placed throughout England and Wales. The nature of the franchisees is that each is a local business and as such ideally positioned and motivated to service the market comprising customers that are also local, namely High Street Solicitors and Estate Agents. Each franchisee can conveniently attend the Local Authorities in its vicinity to conduct the Search of the appropriate registers. PSG’s country-wide coverage also enables it to provide a comprehensive service to national conveyancing companies. PSG’s business has grown through personal recommendation, based on the high quality of the service it provides to its clients.

Home Information Packs

HIPs are provided to customers mainly through local alliances with estate agents and solicitors. This powerful combination of local high street property professionals is called "The HIP Alliance". Central to the latest version of HIPs is the provision of an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) by a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) prior to advertising a property for sale. The ability to provide both a Search and an EPC combined with PSG’s marketing strength will be advantageous. PSG is in a strong position to develop its business, given its experience of growth thus far in the new HIPs market.

Opportunities for Growth

The strength of the network of 83 Franchisees is their having around 600 employees between them on the ground throughout England and Wales. This gives the PSG Brand national coverage through its own local networks an authentic USP in the home buying sector. New management has introduced procedures to capitalise on this advantageous structure and has invested to ensure that an effective IT Pipeline is in place. This delivery system will be a major factor to expand the range of products and services that can be seamlessly provided. With HIPs fully introduced PSG should benefit accordingly.
